For pump hire only, you’re required to pick the pump up in Brighton East. For pump hire with a consultation, I do home visits all over Melbourne. A travel fee is chargeable if you’re located more than 10km from Brighton East. Please get in touch with me here to enquire further.

Yes, I always prioritise existing bookings.

You should clean your breast shields, backflow protectors, duckbill valves and bottles after each use, as follows:

1. Remove the valves and backflow protectors from the breast shields and bottles, and take apart all three pieces of the backflow protectors
2. Rinse the parts under warm water
3. Thoroughly clean the parts with warm soapy water (dish washing liquid is suitable) with a new/clean sponge or brush. I recommend using a bowl you keep aside purely for this purpose, as opposed to filling up your kitchen sink
4. Air dry the parts. Ensure they are completely dry before using them again, you can use paper towel to dry the parts if they are still wet. Using wet parts can damage the motor and result in your bond being forfeited
5. Do not wash the tubes or submerge them in water, they must be completely dry to ensure no liquid gets into the motor.

For an immunocompromised baby, you should sterilise the breast shields, backflow protectors, duckbill valves and bottles between each use.

Yes, for hygiene purposes you will need to purchase a pumping kit which includes all the parts that come into contact with your breastmilk: breast shields, duckbill valves, backflow protectors and breast milk storage bottles.

If you already have Spectra compatible parts you do not need to purchase an additional kit. However, I do recommend ensuring your breast shield size is correct and purchasing the right size if required.

Yes. This means it has a closed motor system and is safe for use by multiple users. However, new parts should be used and can be purchased from me.

Hospital grade breast pumps are hygienic for use by multiple people as they have a closed motor system. With a closed system, the motor itself is protected from milk. Whereas with an open system, there is a risk of milk flowing into the motor, harbouring mould and posing a risk to the breast milk.

Hospital grade pumps like the Spectra S1 also have a more powerful motor, which has many benefits:

• A longer motor life
• Efficient enough for exclusively pumping, e.g. 8 times a day
• Able to help initiate your milk ‘coming in’

Yes. It has a long lasting in-built battery. You can also use the pump while it is plugged in, if you need to charge it.
